First batch of Jughead Hats

Here's my first batch of jughead hats. These, or ones like these, will be on my Etsy store by the end of the month. They're all handmade from vintage wool or fur hat felt.

The first, my favorite, is made with a black long-pile fur felt. Normally this kind of felt is shaggy, but it turned beautifully smooth and shiny when ironed and brushed. It looks similar to old fur felt top hats. This is the classic style of crown-shaped jughead hat we all remember from Archie Comics:



The next one is navy blue felt, with a scalloped brim. I added cool steampunky buttons:




This one is totally classic, another crown-type in black wool.



And a fancy one in green long-napped fur felt.




I've got a stack of different colored fur felts, like the first hat, waiting for similar treatment. Making hats is fun!

Haven't you always wanted a jughead hat? Me too. Who doesn't? My friend Rich recently sent me this great post from the I'm Learning to Share! blog about their history (thanks Rich!), and I'm working up a prototype right now. Pics coming soon!

Norcal Pirate Fest

Had a great time at Pirate Fest. Met some fun people, sold some stuff, traipsed around. Here are a few pictures of the costumes John & I made. I'm posting more to the 'costume work' section of the flickr page.

I just spent two days photographing most of my current stock and making etsy listings. It feels good to have it finally up & running!

Getting ready for Pirate Fest

I've been so busy with custom orders lately that I haven't had time to stock my Etsy store. Right now I'm cranking out all kinds of new cockade designs, getting ready to sell at Pirate Fest on June 20-21!
